Billy’s attacker ‘confirmed’ after brain damage fears in Emmerdale

Billy Fletcher’s life was hanging in the balance (Picture: ITV) Right after Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) vowed revenge on Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle), Billy was found unconscious and bludgeoned on the Emmerdale depot’s floor. Coincidence? Billy has been on Joe’s hit list after Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) got in his ear about Billy and Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) supposedly getting it on behind his back. He didn’t believe it at first, but when Joe learned from Caleb Milligan (Will Ash) that Billy and Dawn had kissed – half-truth, they’d almost kissed – he swore revenge. Joe wasn’t wrong to be suspicious either, it’s written all over Dawn’s face how much she wants Billy back. But did Billy deserve to have his head caved in because of it? Probably not. But that’s what happened and he was left in such a bad way that he had a brain bleed with possible brain damage. He was unconscious for a bit but was slowly brought back round once he started showing signs of improvement. As soon as he was awake, Caleb convinced him Joe had been behind the attack, so when asked about his attacker, Billy knew who to identify. He’s convinced it was Joe and tries to explain it to Dawn. She’s sceptical, and quite rightly too as Caleb is being sketchy, but Billy sticks to his story. Dawn can’t argue with Billy’s strong assertion because why would he lie? She realises she needs to get out – only problem is, she’s carrying Joe’s baby. Billy has a plan for this – he suggests they grab the kids and leg it. Joe was arrested for GBH shortly after Billy was rushed to hospital (Picture: ITV/Shutterstock/Metro) Dawn’s chosen her man it would seem (Picture: ITV) He has a whole plan worked out – he tells DS Byrne it wasn’t Joe who attacked him, much to Caleb’s annoyance, but Billy assures him it’s all part of the plan. He wants Joe to feel complacent while Billy and Dawn make their escape. Dawn is very much on board and tells Billy the perfect opportunity will be the next day, during Joe’s stag do.
