The video shared on X has raised concerns over the dangers of extreme overcrowding.The video showed a train travelling along the Patna to Gaya route. As the train slowly pulled away from a station, the extent of the overcrowding became clear. Passengers were seen packed into the coaches, while others stood on footboards, clung to the exterior doors and squeezed into the narrow spaces between coaches.Some had even climbed onto the roofs of the bogies.The footage showed the people holding on to their lives as the train moved, leaving little room for error. With so many passengers travelling on the outside of a moving train, a sudden movement or loss of grip is bound to have serious consequences. Watch the video here:The video also put focus on the people who rely on these trains for their daily commute. Several social media users pointed out that such scenes are not merely about overcrowding, but about the difficult choices faced by daily-wage workers and others who travel long distances to earn a living and support their families. For many of them, missing a train or waiting for a less crowded one may not be a realistic option. The result is a dangerous compromise: travelling in conditions they know can put their lives at risk because they still need to reach work.As the video spread, Railway Seva responded on X, saying the matter had been brought to the attention of the concerned officials and that the overcrowding would be looked into.The response was followed by one from the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Danapur, who also acknowledged the issue and indicated that officials had taken note of the situation.The official responses, however, did little to stop the conversation online.
