Both teachers have been charged with sexually abusing the girls, circulating objectionable videos of them and threatening them through audio messages. The incident occurred under Krishnabrahmn Police Station in Buxar district. An FIR has been lodged on the complaint of the victim’s mother — her daughter is a minor — under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.The headmaster was to receive the State Teacher Award 2026 on September 5, on the occasion of Teacher’s Day. Mr. Ansari allegedly aided and abetted the two main accused; following the police action, the Bihar Education Department has withdrawn his name from the State award. The department has also suspended the two accused teachers. In a press statement, the Buxar DM’s office said the Block Education Officer, Dumraon, had reported serious allegations against Assistant Teacher Virendra Prasad and School Teacher Arvind Kumar, both posted at the Middle School in Dumraon. The allegations included molestation of girl students, circulating objectionable videos and threatening them through audio clips, among others.Buxar Superintendent of Police (SP) Shubham Arya visited the police station to review the case details with officials and the actions taken so far.Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Arya said: “The headmaster was arrested yesterday, and another accused teacher, Arvind Kumar, has been arrested today (September 4, 2026). As the matter is very old and happened months back in January, it is hard to medically confirm the rape, but we are trying our level best to gather all possible evidence. Police have also conducted raids at the hotel where a girl was sexually abused.”He added: “Police teams are continuously conducting raids to arrest the remaining accused teacher. Preliminary information suggests that the girl is a former student of the school. We are investigating matters concerning other students as well. Information has come to light regarding three former students. One student is a minor.”Following the SP’s directives, police have stepped up operations and are conducting continuous raids at suspected hideouts to locate the remaining accused teacher.District Education Officer Indra Kumar Karn said both accused teachers had been suspended and departmental proceedings were underway. Arvind Kumar was recruited through TRE-3, conducted in 2024 by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), while Virendra Kumar had joined the school following a transfer in 2013.According to police sources, the teachers sexually exploited the girls for months and threatened to leak their videos on social media if they complained to anyone. As per Police Headquarters, the investigation has been handed over to the State Crime Investigation Department (CID).Bihar Congress spokesperson Dr. Snehashish Vardhan demanded an investigation into the officials who selected the school’s headmaster for the State Teacher Award 2026, questioning the criteria used for his selection.
