Hanslal Gupta claims he and his father spent around Rs 8-9 lakh on his wife's education and preparation for the Bihar Police recruitment examination. He said he supported her after she expressed a desire to study further and eventually secured a constable's job. Pratibha Vishwakarma is currently posted as a constable at a police station in Katihar.According to Hanslal, he met Pratibha while working at a petrol pump in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh district. The two fell in love and married in 2021. They later registered their marriage at a court in Bihar's Kaimur in 2024.After marriage, Pratibha moved to Hanslal's family home, where his parents accepted the relationship. Hanslal said he and his father, who drives an e-rickshaw, contributed towards her education and police exam preparation. Pratibha eventually cleared the Bihar Police constable recruitment examination and was posted in Katihar.HUSBAND ALLEGES WIFE DISTANCED HERSELFHanslal alleges that Pratibha began distancing herself from him during her police training and after joining duty. He said she frequently cited her demanding work schedule when he called and also avoided meeting him when he travelled from Kaimur to Katihar. He later suspected that she was in a relationship with another man, whom he identified as Rahul Sharma. Hanslal claims to have evidence of the alleged relationship. The allegation has not been independently verified.Hanslal also claims that Pratibha has told him that she never accepted him as her husband and accused him of forcing the relationship. Despite the dispute, Hanslal says he wants to reconcile with his wife and is seeking help to save their marriage.FAMILY APPROACHES KATIHAR POLICEHanslal and his father travelled to Katihar and met Pratibha at the police centre, hoping to resolve the dispute. However, according to the family, she refused to return and live with them.They subsequently submitted a written complaint to Katihar Superintendent of Police Parichay Kumar, alleging that the marital dispute was linked to Pratibha's relationship with another man.The SP declined to take legal action against the constable, describing the matter as a private marital dispute. However, he indicated off camera that the couple's differences could be addressed through counselling at the women's police station.Hanslal and his father are now hoping that counselling will help resolve the dispute and save the marriage.- Ends
