Sign in to your TheGamer account Just when you thought the jostling at the top of the review charts might take a break for the summer ahead of what will be one of the busiest Septembers on record for new games, an unlikely contender has reared its head. Big Walk launches today, and it has some of the best review scores of the year so far. Big Walk Racks Up Some Big Scores The Big Walk reviews have been trickling in at a steady pace rather than all going live at once, but there are now enough of them to discern that, critically, House House’s new game is a hit, a big one. Big Walk has an 87 on OpenCritic, which puts it on par with the likes of 007 First Light and Denshattack, but its Metacritic where its score really blows the competition away. Right now, Big Walk has a 93 on Metacritic, making it the second-highest-rated game of the year. The only game stopping it from wearing the MC crown is Sektori, which has a 94. Big Walk currently has just 13 reviews on OC, and even fewer on MC at just 11. Now that the game is more widely available, more reviews will get published over the coming days. That could mean its scores dip a little. Based on what reviewers have been saying about it so far, though, even if Big Walk’s score does settle slightly, I don’t think it’s going to drop by much. Almost everyone who had the opportunity to play the game before it launched seems to be in love with it, and it’s hard to imagine many feeling different enough that the game won’t remain up among the heavy hitters when it comes to its aggregated review scores. Of Course A New Game From The Minds That Brought You Untitled Goose Game Was Going To Be Good There has been a palpable excitement surrounding Big Walk ever since it was first revealed. It's created by the studio that brought you Untitled Goose Game, and even though its art style and makeup are very different from the Aussie developer’s last game, reviewers suggest there’s more Untitled Goose Game DNA here than you think. The game also appears to be a lot bigger than most were expecting, too. Sure, it’s called Big Walk, but just how big that walk was going to be wasn’t clear until now. There’s a strong chance a lot of people are going to be playing this over the coming days too. Big Walk is free to claim with PS Plus, no matter what tier you have, even Essential. It’s a similar approach to the strategy used for Fall Guys’ launch in 2020, a game that has reached tens of millions of people and, even though it isn’t as big as it once was, maintains a core player base to this day.
