Bhopal teen murder: Cops to deploy divers to search pond for missing private parts

Two days after Bhopal Police cracked the murder of a teenager killed allegedly for organ trafficking, their biggest challenge remains recovering the victim’s private parts, which the accused removed after the murder and threw into a pond. Police said they are now preparing to enlist divers to carry out a deep-water search operation.According to police, recovering the body parts is considered important evidence that could strengthen the case in court. However, the search has become difficult as the pond is deep, contains various aquatic animals and overflows into a larger pond that stretches for several kilometres.During interrogation, the accused told police that after the murder, they cut and removed both private parts from the victim’s body and placed them in a plastic bag. However, they were unable to find a buyer. One of the accused, Zoheb, then returned the bag the following day to co-accused Aamir and the juvenile, asking them to keep it for two to three days.Three days later, police said, Aamir and the minor again contacted Zoheb, who told them that he was still unable to sell the body parts. Aamir and the juvenile then threw them into the pond. According to police, the teenager went missing on August 6. His family searched for him but could not trace him. On August 11, a body was recovered from the Chhota Talab area in Bhopal. On August 14, the family identified the body from the victim’s clothes and slippers.The investigation took a more serious turn after preliminary findings pointed to a conspiracy involving the victim’s organ trafficking. According to police, the group of men murdered the teenager, mutilated his body and planned to send a severed body part abroad. Police suspect the teenager may have been lured with the promise of around Rs 2 crore, although the exact motive and circumstances of the crime are still being verified.Officials said the removed body parts have not yet been recovered despite searches at multiple locations.Police teams are continuing efforts to trace them while also examining whether the plan was linked to a larger criminal network.
