Beyoncé Celebrates 20 Years of B’Day with Expanded Deluxe Edition: Stream

Beyoncé has gone back to B’Day for her own birthday, releasing a 20th-anniversary deluxe edition of her sophomore album as she turns 45. Stream it below. The newly remastered digital version expands the record to 31 tracks, folding in previously unreleased material, B-sides, remixes, and a pair of new collaborations with Maluma and the late Selena Quintanilla. Among the biggest additions is “Irreemplazable (Como La Flor),” which combines Beyoncé’s Spanish version of “Irreplaceable” with Selena’s “Como La Flor.” According to Parkwood Entertainment, the latter’s estate granted permission for the posthumous duet. Beyoncé previously cited her fellow Texas native as an influence on the Spanish-language material she recorded during the B’Day era. She also links up with Maluma for the first time on “Cuerpo (Tumbao),” which is a rendition of “Get Me Bodied” that samples Celia Cruz’s “La Negra Tiene Tumbao.” Beyoncé produced the track alongside Edgar Barrera and CASTA, with Ali “Ali Ali” Alvarez serving as co-producer. Elsewhere, the enhanced tracklist digs into the archives for “Lost Yo Mind,” “Creole,” and “Back Up,” all B-sides that were left off the original album. “My First Time” dates back even further, having originally been recorded for her 2003 debut, Dangerously in Love. Another standout cut is “Can I Watch You,” notably produced by Beyoncé and Pharrell. Also included is “Morning Dew (Donk),” which Beyoncé released in July to begin the countdown to B’Day‘s anniversary before following it with a JAY-Z-assisted remix in August. The physical editions differ slightly from the 31-song digital release. Beyoncé’s official store offers a four-LP deluxe set pressed on 180-gram blue vinyl with a 60-page commemorative booklet and two double-sided art prints. A standard two-LP edition and CD are also available. Originally released on September 4th, 2006, B’Day earned Beyoncé the Grammy for Best Contemporary R&B Album the following year.
