News has come as a huge blow to fans with many sharing the news left them “gutted” and said it would be a “big loss”. It comes as part of a major overhaul launched by parent company and Premier Inn owner Whitbread. The chain has already closed its Bar + Block, Cookhouse + Pub and Table + Table on September 3, resulting in the loss of 66 sites. Meanwhile, Beefeater will also close all of its locations on September 10. Back in April, Whitbread boss Dominic Paul said the firm was forced into the desperate overhaul “in light of significant cost increases” sparked by then Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ hike in National Insurance and business rates. Under the five-year survival plan, the firm will also sell off 110 sites and convert others into 600 new hotel rooms to save £250million.
