Beware the Ready-Made Op-Ed

A Wall Street Journal opinion piece from billionaire investor Stanley Druckenmiller went viral this week—but not because of readers’ insatiable appetite for 1,300-word missives on the bond market. Rather, readers noticed the essay bore several hallmarks of AI writing. In a statement to NOTUS, Druckenmiller confirmed that he wrote the piece using AI, adding that he’s “not embarrassed by it.” The Journal’s editorial page editor Paul Gigot doubled down, telling NOTUS that “AI is a fact of modern life,” and arguing that the op-ed was representative of Druckenmiller’s point of view.
