Regularly mowing during autumn is vital to keep grass looking its best, especially if you have cool-season grass that grows quickly this time of year. According to a pro, nailing the timing of your mow is vital, too. Horticulturist, Danielle Scardino, explains that there is a pivotal two-hour window during which you should sieze the opportunity to mow. She says that revving up the lawnmower and trimming the grass between 8am and 10am is best, as it allows morning dew to dry and avoids warmer midday temperatures. Speaking to The Pioneer Woman, Danielle said: “We don’t want to mow when the grass is damp or wet, because the grass blades can slip and create an unclean cut or no cut at all.” Most read in Fabulous If you miss this time slot, Danielle recommends waiting until around 4pm to 6pm, as the temperature is cool but the evening dampness hasn’t set in. Meanwhile, she explains that late evening can also be a no-go, especially when the nights are extra moist. Danielle adds: “Open cuts during dark and damp weather can leave the plant vulnerable to attack or disease.” Comment now
