Cai is a natural fit for a mobile, mixed-damage build in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. His Ornius classes let him stay active across the battlefield, while Diviner and Shaman give him the Black Magic training needed to make the most of Caladrius. That combination allows him to threaten enemies with physical weapons or magic, depending on which approach suits the encounter. With a strong Ornius mount, Caladrius can remain Cai's main class even after Master Classes become available. Orichaldia is still worth pursuing for Fierce Spear, but mastering it does not mean abandoning the Ornius setup that has carried him through the game. Best Class Progression For Cai Tier Class Description Beginner Ornius Rider Develops Cai as a mobile, mounted physical attacker. Diviner Begins Black Magic training for his eventual hybrid endgame class. Specialty Armored Ornius Rider Continue his physical training. Shaman Push Black Magic for stats and the Caladrius certification requirement. Advanced Caladrius Main class, making Cai a mounted attacker who can also dip into Black Magic when it would work better. Master Orichaldia Master it for Fierce Spear before returning to Caladrius! Start with Ornius Rider for his mounted physical role, but spend enough time in Diviner and then Shaman to develop Black Magic. Caladrius requires Rider D and Black Magic B, so the magic classes are preparation for Cai's main Advanced Class rather than a change of direction. Armored Ornius Rider keeps the mounted route going in the Specialty tier. The standout skill to keep is Overtake, Caladrius's mastery ability; its class also provides Black-Magic Seeker and Combat Arts +1. Sense Threat from Armored Ornius Rider and Bind Dexterity from Shaman are useful optional masteries if you complete those classes, but they are secondary to reaching Caladrius. In Part 3, train the Rider B, Spear A and Sword A needed for Orichaldia, master it for Fierce Spear, then consider switching back. A good Ornius mount can make Caladrius the stronger everyday fit for this hybrid build despite Orichaldia's higher tier.
