A Bengaluru man spent over two hours getting from Indiranagar to the airport after rain, but needed just nine minutes to reach his gate. His post contrasted the city's chaotic roads with the airport's DigiYatra-enabled efficiency. An X user's post about the infamous Bengaluru traffic has gone viral. (Representational image/Pexels)In Bengaluru, the airport commute can sometimes feel longer than the flight itself. One traveller’s journey from Indiranagar to Kempegowda International Airport took 2 hours and 15 minutes after rain, but just nine minutes to get from the entrance to his departure gate.Nitin Sharma shared his experience on X which has garnered close to 70,000 likes. The journey became so difficult that, at one point, Sharma said he was convinced he would miss his flight. What was meant to be a routine airport commute had turned into a race against Bengaluru’s rain-hit roads. But the experience changed dramatically once he reached the airport. Sharma said it took him just nine minutes to get from the entrance to the departure gate, a sharp contrast to the 135 minutes he had spent getting there in the first place. He credited DigiYatra and the airport’s operations for making the process inside the terminal remarkably quick. “Yet another day of life made bearable by world-class digital infrastructure in a city with third-rate physical infrastructure,” Sharma wrote.See the post here:Commuters who are accustomed to the city’s traffic woes related to the post and pointed out how moderate rain can turn routine journeys into lengthy journeys. The contrast in Sharma’s experience, however, was less about the airport itself and more about what happened before he got there. For 2 hours and 15 minutes, the problem was getting to the airport. Once he crossed the terminal entrance, technology and airport processes helped him cover the remaining distance to the gate in a fraction of that time. His post therefore captured an oddly Bengaluru experience: a city where the journey to the airport can test your patience, while the airport itself may be the easiest part of the trip. For Sharma, at least, the flight was no longer the difficult bit. The real airport ordeal was simply getting to the airport.- EndsPublished By: Srimoyee ChowdhuryPublished On: Aug 23, 2026 12:41 IST
