A 15-year-old boy in severe emotional distress was rescued by the Bengaluru police after he attempted to jump from the terrace of a five-storey building in Akshayanagar on Saturday (August 22) night.The incident occurred at 8.48 p.m. at 1st Cross, Elenahalli, within the limits of the Hulimavu Police Station. The boy’s brother alerted the Namma-112 emergency helpline after noticing that he was in distress and had gone to the terrace.Namma-112 personnel immediately alerted ASI Satish Kumar and police constable Shabeer Mamadapur, who were patrolling in Hoysala-215 of Begur police station. The policemen reached the spot within eight minutes.According to the police, the boy had reportedly become emotionally distressed over an issue related to Instagram. When his uncle tried to console him, he ran away and climbed to the terrace, where he threatened to jump.The policemen carefully approached him and intervened at the right moment, preventing him from taking the extreme step.
