Bengal BJP leaders too busy making Reels, allowing Left to rise, says party MLA

(Image: @AmarnathShaka/X)West Bengal BJP MLA Amarnath Sakha took a swipe at a section of the party's state leadership in a Facebook post, accusing them of being too busy with "self-promotion", making Reels, gaining followers and building fan clubs instead of countering the CPI(M)-led Left Front, which is gaining momentin in the eastern state.Sakha, a two-time MLA from Onda constituency in West Bengal's Bankura district, wrote in the post on Facebook that he had been associated with the BJP for years and was unable to remain silent on things he believed were wrong."I don't try to please anyone. I protest against whatever I feel is wrong, and I have made many enemies because of it. That does not matter to me," Sakha stated in the Facebook post written in Bangla. BJP LEADERS NOT PROTESTING AGAINST ITTaking aim at the Left Front, Sakha alleged that since the BJP came to power in West Bengal, the Communist bloc had been trying to "provoke and mislead" people and create a negative perception of the government. The Left alliance in Bengal consists of the CPI(M), the CPI, the All India Forward Bloc, the All India Secular Front and several smaller parties. "What is surprising is that none of our senior leaders are protesting against it," Sakha wrote on Facebook.He then accused the BJP leaders of being consumed by self-promotion instead of trying to counter the activities of the CPI(M) and helping in the party's organisational work. "From the moment they wake up until they go to sleep, they are busy with self-promotion," he wrote, alleging that there was "no counter to the CPI(M), no protest, nothing.""Everyone here is busy making reels, gaining followers and increasing fan clubs," he alleged in his post on Facebook.He also criticised BJP leaders in the state for allegedly becoming more focused on personal gains after the party came to power after winning a landslide in assembly elections, the results of which came out in May this year.'LET PARTY GO TO HELL...': BJP MLA SLAMS PARTY LEADERS"Now that the government has come to power, everyone is busy enjoying the benefits. Let the party go to hell, as long as their own stomachs are full," Sakha wrote on Facebook.He questioned the commitment of such leaders to the organisation, saying, "What were they before and what they have become now?"Sakha also urged BJP workers to put the party ahead of individual leaders. "Instead of becoming followers of this or that leader, become followers of the party first. Leaders will come and go, but the party will remain," he wrote.The MLA also referred to his own political journey, claiming he had "pushed aside" his life, youth, family and loved ones to dedicate himself to the BJP. "I have endured 34 years of the CPI(M)'s bloodshed and terror, along with the atrocities of the Trinamool Congress. But people trusted us," he wrote.Sakha claimed that the party was now being hurt because of the actions of some people."But the party is suffering because of some people. Yet nobody seems to care. They only focus on earning money," he alleged.Sakha's allegations that sections within the party were too busy enriching and promoting themselves come even as senior state BJP leaders like Samik Bhattacharya have raised the alarm that party functionaries are engaging in crimes like extortion and collection of cut-money.MLA Sakha's post on Facebook comes weeks after BJP leadership had reportedly advised party leaders to increase their social media engagement following Gen Z protests in several states.A senior district BJP leader, reacting to the post, said that Sakha should raise his concerns within the party instead of writing on social media. "He is a senior party leader. He should place his opinion within the party. His views and opinions are of the utmost importance, and we will look into them," the leader was quoted as saying by PTI.Sakha's criticism comes as Bengal's Left Front attempts an organisational revival by foregrounding younger leaders and intensifying its street campaigns. However, the reported revival is yet to translate into an electoral resurgence.
