Published Sep 18, 2026, 6:30 PM EDT Jennifer is a TV and Movie News Editor at ScreenRant. She started her journey in entertainment media in 2022 when she first joined Valnet at CBR before coming to ScreenRant. Jennifer loves TV, especially science fiction. She also loves late-night talk shows, due to her insomnia. Alien: Earth is definitely one of her favorite shows, and she jumps on any chance she gets to write about it. Even on her days off, she will claim an Alien Earth article if one is available. Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon are two of her favorite late-night hosts, and Conan O'Brien before he left his show. Her Alien: Earth coverage for ScreenRant is by far the work that she is most proud of so far. She was initially a finance and political editor, but her passion for pop culture convinced her to transition into entertainment journalism. During her off time, she loves to binge-watch cooking shows such as Kitchen Nightmares. Jennifer also loves spending time with her daughter and cherishes every moment of it. Netflix is saying goodbye to one of its beloved dramas. The streaming platform has finally made a decision about the fate of Sweet Magnolias after a long run on the service. According to Deadline, the series, which was led by JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, and Heather Headley, has officially been canceled and will not be returning for a sixth season. The news about Sweet Magnolias is a disappointing update for its many viewers. However, while the story of Maddie (Garcia Swisher), Dana Sue (Elliott), and Helen (Headley) has reached its end after five seasons, Sheryl J. Anderson and Garcia Swisher could soon reunite for a new Netflix series. Despite the cancelation, Netflix is continuing its relationship with Sweet Magnolias showrunner and executive producer Anderson. The streaming platform has ordered a new drama series from Anderson titled Ladies of the House. Garcia Swisher is attached as an executive producer and is also under consideration for a role in the new project. Similar to Sweet Magnolias, which was based on a book series by Sherryl Woods, Ladies of the House is an adaptation of a novel. The new Netflix drama is loosely based on Lauren Edmondson’s book of the same name and centers its story on three women, a mother and her two daughters. Ladies of the House follows three women whose lives are thrown off course by the sudden death of a winery owner (also the husband and father). Forced to work together despite their tumultuous relationships, the three characters face major problems involving the winery, their relatives, and love lives. With support from close friends, they fight to save their family business and maintain their relationships with one another. Netflix did not immediately cancel Sweet Magnolias following the debut of its final season on June 11, 2026. Instead, the platform decided to wait and see how the episodes of Sweet Magnolias season 5 performed. The installment garnered 2.8 million views during its first four days, a 30% decline from the 4 million views from Sweet Magnolias season 4. Season 5 improved and earned 3.5 million views during its first full week on the platform before it eventually left Netflix's Global Top 10 charts. Sweet Magnolias seasons 1 to 5 are now available to stream on Netflix. Release Date May 19, 2020 Network Netflix Showrunner Sheryl J.
