Oregon State LB Dylan Layne No. 1 6-foot-2, 225-pounds Rs-Senior Lake Oswego, Ore. Lake Oswego HS -> Idaho -> Oregon State 2025 Stats: 88 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and six pass breakups Layne’s 2025 Recap The Lake Oswego native Layne is coming off a career-best year with the Vandals in 2025, playing and starting in all 12 games and tallying an impressive line of 88 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and six pass breakups. He led the Idaho defense in total tackles, was tied for second in pass breakups, and was fourth in tackles for loss. Across his Idaho career (four seasons), Layne totaled 137 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, 16 breakups, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in 37 career games. A 2025 All-Conference Honorable Mention selection, Layne finished with 12 tackles twice and totaled at least four tackles in every game, and six or more in eight of 12. 2026 Outlook Following his standout 2025 season with the Vandals, Layne entered the transfer portal and found a strong situation at Oregon State. His DC and LBs coach from Idaho, Cort Dennison, was named Co-DC and LBs coach under new head coach JaMarcus Shephard at OSU, and it was an easy decision to come to Corvallis. Shephard spoke early in his tenure about the importance of having local, Pacific Northwest guys in the program, and a guy like Layne fits that to a T. The Lake Oswego native returns to the Willamette Valley to close out his career, has familiarity with the scheme and coaching staff, and should be a very natural plug-and-play fit in his final season. Based on what we saw during spring practices, Layne’s leadership, football IQ, and playmaking certainly stand out in a big way. Expect Layne to be one of the Beavers’ starters at one of the linebacker positions. He’s versatile enough to play both on the inside and outside, but I expect him to see a lot of snaps and be right up there as one of Oregon State’s leading tacklers this season. Teaming up with Aiden Sullivan, Raesjon Davis, and others, look for Layne to be in line for a productive final campaign.
