(Supplied: Liam Mendes)In short:A jury has been played the Triple Zero (000) call made from Luke Davies's phone on the day he and Jesse Baird were allegedly murdered by Beau Lamarre-Condon.The lead investigator on the case told the court police attempted to call back twice unsuccessfully, going to voicemail.Mr Lamarre-Condon, a former police officer, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder.A jury has been played a Triple Zero (000) call from the phone of Luke Davies on the morning he and his boyfriend, Jesse Baird, were allegedly murdered by then-police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon.Mr Lamarre-Condon has pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder and is facing a three-month trial in the NSW Supreme Court.The 31-year-old is accused of shooting the young couple in Mr Baird's Paddington terrace, in Sydney's east, on February 19 2024, after developing what the Crown said was a jealous infatuation with Mr Baird and allegedly stalking him in the lead up.Muffled audio of the short call was played twice to the jury on Friday, in which a male voice says "f*** off" almost immediately as the call is connected.The lead investigator in the case, Detective Sasha Pinazza, told the court there were two attempts to call the number back, which were unsuccessful.Jesse Baird and Luke Davies at a concert shortly before they died. (Instagram)Loved ones in the public gallery wiped their eyes with tissues after hearing the call, and Mr Davies's voicemail message during the call backs.In an opening address last week, Crown Prosecutor Brett Hatfield SC told the jury it was the prosecution case that Mr Davies called 000.The Crown alleges Mr Baird was shot twice in the kitchen, before Mr Davies was allegedly shot through a bedroom door, as he tried to call for help, because he was a witness to the alleged murder of Mr Baird.Mr Lamarre-Condon's lawyers have raised an argument of self defence and suggested it was their client who tried to call 000.Defence counsel John Stratton SC has indicated it was Mr Lamarre-Condon's case that there were two separate struggles involving his police pistol that morning, first with Mr Baird, and he used a mobile phone to make the call before encountering Mr Davies.The defence case is that Mr Davies's death was the result of the second struggle involving the gun.
