What's even more impressive is that those same people then open up to Grylls with complete honesty, revealing their most vulnerable selves. For his latest challenge, Grylls is taking the cast and creator of The Chosen into his world for a new adventure. All six episodes of The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls are now streaming on Prime Video. Bear Grylls on how the wild brings the best out of people Grylls wants his partners to succeed When Grylls takes someone with him into the wild, he understands that they become his responsibility. Not everyone shares Grylls' enthusiasm for scaling a rock wall in the desert or eating the tongue of a dead animal in the forest. How does Grylls find the balance between pushing someone to their limits and knowing when to back off? "I think that's called the wisdom of life, isn't it?" Grylls tells How-To Geek. "I'm not trying to break anyone. It's like the wild does that—the hard part. We're there to kind of journey side by side. And I don't know, I'm just nudging people along, nudging people gently along and standing beside them and helping them as best I can." In Chosen in the Wild, a member of the cast of The Chosen joins Grylls in a survivalist situation. Actors Jonathan Roumie (Jesus), Luke Dimyan (Judas), Elizabeth Tabish (Mary Magdalene), Paras Patel (Matthew), and Noah James (Andrew) test their primitive survival skills in rigorous environments, from the Adirondack Forest and Great Basin Desert to the Colorado River and Canyonlands. Series creator and executive producer Dallas Jenkins also joins Grylls for an episode. Grylls completes these activities with his partners while having deep and thoughtful conversations along the way. "It's a journey and never a competition and always there to help them shine," Grylls explains. "I love that dynamic. It brings out the best in people. And then the wild can do its job for me, which opens them up and encourages them to talk honestly about their lives." What keeps Bear Grylls grounded? Family, faith, and adventure Credit: Amazon MGM Studios The Chosen is a hit religious drama that examines the life of Jesus Christ. A spiritual man himself, Grylls believes faith has been part of his journey, from his days as a soldier in the British Army to his adventures navigating the Swiss Alps with rock climber Alex Honnold. Grylls has seen so much of the world with some of Hollywood's biggest celebrities. After working in television for over 20 years, how does Grylls stay grounded? "I think family really helps. I really look at my job as my job. I don't look at it as an identity," Grylls says. "I'm just a regular guy, I really am. I'm a dad and a husband. I have a few sort of niche skills, as they would call it, that are probably not very applicable to everyday life unless everything's gone wrong."
