BBNBA: Summer League Wrap-up

Sunday wrapped up the 2026 edition of the NBA Summer League. In this rendition of the exhibition classic, 17 former Kentucky Wildcats found themselves on a roster, though only 16 played. As expected, Jayden Quaintance was unable to take the floor, as he underwent a successful cleanup operation on his knee. This medical necessity was one of the primary reasons he slipped into the late first round on draft night. Kentucky’s other drafted rookie, Otega Oweh, played two games for the Oklahoma City Thunder before tweaking his ankle in a Salt Lake City Summer League game, which kept him out of playing in Las Vegas. In his two games, he averaged six points and was an impactful two-way player. The other 15 one-time ‘Cats, which included recent stars and blasts from the past, did what they could to either showcase themselves to their team or audition for someone around the league to pick them up. Amari Williams is too good for Summer League The Boston Celtics honored Amari Williams by signing another two-way contract with the team, so they liked what they saw last season, but his debut in Las Vegas really dropped some jaws. He scored a game-high 23 points while grabbing 13 rebounds and blocking two shots. The Celtics are loaded at the 5-spot, but you’ve got to think they will look for a way to get their skilled lefty from England on the floor more than they did last season. Also, he has reportedly grown to 7-foot-2, so there’s that. Adou Thiero was getting a lot of Summer League buzz Adou Thiero did not play much for the Lakers last season, but his athleticism continues to shine when he does see the floor. ESPN called him out as a player to watch through just a few games, and while he didn’t maintain 17 points per game, he had a number of highlight dunks. Other BBNBA Notes: When Koby Brea is hot, there isn’t a better shooter in the country. The Phoenix Suns witnessed this in one game over the summer, but unfortunately, it was just one game. Brea knocked down six triples in one night, but was otherwise cold. He is back on the Suns this season on a two-way deal, where he hopes to find more consistency with his shot. Bryce Hopkins led the BBNBA in scoring in the Summer League, which is a sentence I did not expect to write. Suiting up for the Denver Nuggets, the only player to be coached by both John Calipari and Rick Pitino averaged 18 points per game. Chris Livingston is another former ‘Cat who has improved his game. Playing for the Wizards, Livingston put up 14.4 points per game through five contests as he looks to find a landing spot in the league.
