Louise Minchin stripped down to a mint-green bikini and proved she could still enjoy a dip in the pool despite recovering from a nasty foot injury sustained during her Arctic ice bike ride challenge in March.The BBC presenter, 57, suffered extreme frostbite and was forced to quit the gruelling challenge which saw her attempt to cycle 300 miles in Canada's remote Northwest Territories.And five months after being struck down with frostbite, Louise didn't let her medical condition affect her summer as she donned a green two-piece while floating on an inflatable in the pool.Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, the journalist looked on fine form as she read a book on the inflatable before showing off her toned figure as she stretched out by the pool.A bandage was visible on Louise's toe, with the newsreader accessorising with a straw sun hat and dark sunglasses.Captioning her post, Louise penned: 'Of all the summers not to be able to swim because of my still healing frostbitten toes, 2026 has been challenging, but after some testing I’ve discovered a way to be in the water without being ‘in’ the water, it’s not as easy as it looks in the first photo! Last month Louise shared her concerns that she doesn't know what her 'long-term recovery' looks like on her toes, while revealing her fingers are now 'okay'.Writing in her newsletter, Louise said: 'To say things did not go to plan is an understatement. I did cycle a long way, about 140km in treacherous conditions but with the temperature falling to -40C unfortunately I got severe frostbite in my fingers and toes.'It is not something you can feel, so I had no idea I had it, nor how serious it was until after I pulled out of the race because my companion Mimi Anderson had to stop cycling because her hands were so numb she couldn't change gear.''I'm glad to say, she's made a full recovery, but I still haven't. I will spare you details at this point as I am still being treated and don't know exactly what my long-term recovery will look like. Suffice to say my fingers are OK, but not all of my toes.'Louise was rushed to hospital after having to abandon the cycle 14 hours in, when she used the emergency beacon to call for help.The Inuvik Weekend Warrior Fat Bike Challenge was to raise money for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. When we got to this point both of us knew we were very dangerously cold.'Louise said the 'combination of the temperature and wind meant despite having prepared as much as we could have it was a huge risk to go on'.She added: 'Turns out we were right to stop. We both have frostbite and are being looked after incredibly well looked after. At the moment we remain in good spirits.'After she was discharged from hospital, Louise posted a health update to her followers.Taking to Instagram, she penned: 'I am out of hospital in time for Easter thank goodness. Thanks to all of you for your messages.'Profound thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff who have looked after me over the last two weeks both here in the UK and in Canada.'I am incredibly grateful for the care you have all given me.'
