BBC Breakfast viewers have been left outraged after the show returned on Monday morning with a brand new look. The surprise overhaul comes after it was revealed presenter Naga Munchetty is leaving the show after almost two decades. Moreover, the show has also introduced a new headline banner across the bottom of the screen which stays in place for the whole show. Sign up for the TV newsletter Thank you! The banner, which came alongside new large captions over news reports, had some viewers complaining they couldn’t concentrate on what was being said due to the large graphics. Taking to X, one viewer said: “@BBCBreakfast what on earth have you done to the screen. The logo was previously red and black, before moving over to an orange scheme It comes after it was revealed that Naga Munchetty is stepping down from the show after a whopping 17 years Credit: BBC “The headlines need to disappear as does the big captions while the reports are on which take up too much of the screen. It wasn’t broken so why mess around with it?” Another agreed: “Really don’t like this new headlines banner along the bottom of the screen. “It’s distracting and I’m not concentrating on what Sally and Ben are saying. I expect this on the news channels but not on Breakfast. Horrible!” “What is that colour scheme. Bring back the red and white. #bbcbreakfast,” complained another of the new logo. Most read in TV A fourth fan even turned the show off, as they said: “These new graphics are awful. It wasn’t broken why mess? They’re annoying me that much I’ve switched to sky news.” The switch-up appears to come amid an overhaul for the news show in general. Earlier this summer, it was revealed that longtime BBC Breakfast host Naga had stepped down from her role on the show. The presenter joined the show back in 2009, but is now moving over to Radio 5 Live. She will take the helm in January, taking over from the current 5 Live Breakfast hosts, Rachel Burden and Rick Edwards, who are stepping down in December. Comment now
