BBC announces new Strictly spin-off show co-hosted by Tyler West

The BBC has announced a new Strictly Come Dancing spin-off series which will be hosted by Tyler West and Abi Clarke.The latest season of the long-running dancing series returned to screens on Saturday night, during which the celebrity contestants were paired up with their professional partners.Ahead of the first live show this weekend, the BBC has now revealed a new show linked to the series.Abi Clarke and Tyler West will be co-hosting a new Strictly Come Dancing spin-off series (BBC/Ray Burmiston/BBC Creative)Strictly: Lights Up will be fronted by West, who competed on Strictly in 2022, alongside comedian Clarke.The BBC has teased that the two will “take viewers straight on to the Strictly dancefloor for immediate reactions from the night’s eliminated couple, their dance off opponents – plus the judges, new hosts, other Strictly stars and studio guests”.The show will be available exclusively on BBC iPlayer every Sunday night immediately after the results show has finished.BBC iPlayer will also be launching a new dedicated Strictly hub, which will feature weekly training room episodes, where Clarke visits different Strictly couples in rehearsals, as well as a weekly highlights show to round up the week of Strictly Come Dancing.New Strictly hosts Josh Widdicombe, Emma Willis and Johannes Radebe, during the recording for the first episode in this year’s competition (Guy Levy/BBC/PA)PA MediaEvery dance of the series will also be available to watch individually, while a new feature is being introduced to allow viewers to scroll through each episode of Strictly in chapters – allowing them to “easily jump between their favourite couples and revisit unmissable Strictly moments”.BBC Studios senior executive producer Sarah James said the new exclusives would “bring viewers closer to Strictly than ever before”.She said Lights Up would be a “post-results show like no other – taking you straight on to the Strictly dancefloor for all of the immediate reaction that previously remained unseen”.Read More“Across the main shows, BBC iPlayer and Strictly socials, there’s never been so much for Strictly fans to enjoy,” she added.A peak of 5.8 million viewers tuned in to the Strictly Come Dancing launch episode on Saturday night which revealed the pairings for the new series.According to BBC overnight figures, the episode saw 200,000 more viewers at its peak than last year’s launch show.Strictly Come Dancing will return for its first live show of the new series on Saturday at 6.15pm on BBC One and iPlayer.Strictly: Lights Up begins on BBC iPlayer on Sunday 4 October, when the first of this year’s celebrity couples will be eliminated from the competition.
