Basra (IraqiNews.com) – The fourth edition of the Basra International Exhibition for Oil, Gas, Energy, and Petrochemicals concluded its proceedings at the Basrah International Fairground in Al-Maqal Port, Basra, gathering approximately 300 international and domestic corporate participants representing 18 countries. Organized in close collaboration with operating entities of the Iraqi Ministry of Oil and regional energy bodies, the multi-day industry forum served as a strategic platform to showcase cutting-edge extractive technologies, negotiate joint-venture partnerships, and accelerate technological transfer across Iraq’s upstream, midstream, and downstream infrastructure. Exhibits spanned specialized industrial solutions ranging from century-old quality assurance institutions and artificial intelligence-driven exploration software to hazardous chemical remediation models and municipal lighting engineering. Third-party engineering assessment and asset integrity management were prominently featured by Germany’s TÜV Rheinland, an industrial testing and certification firm with over 150 years of operations. Hazem Yahya Abdul-Qader, company representative to the exhibition, stated that TÜV Rheinland functions as an officially accredited third-party technical inspection entity under the Ministry of Oil, executing long-term compliance and materials conformity contracts with major state operators including the Basra Oil Company (BOC) and the Iraqi Drilling Company (IDC). Abdul-Qader noted that the firm also maintains active service delivery agreements with KBR at the Majnoon oil field alongside the State Company for Heavy Engineering Equipment, providing full-lifecycle asset integrity diagnostics, risk evaluations, welder and inspector certifications, and mandatory specialized driver licensing to guarantee operating facilities meet stringent international safety and equipment preservation standards. Advanced digital transformation in upstream exploration was showcased by China’s Beijing Jurassic Software, a 30-year veteran developer of petroleum modeling systems. Company representative Li Hui explained that the firm provides integrated software architectures tailored for oil and gas upstream workflows, incorporating exploration analytics, drilling and well-completion management, reservoir simulation, electrical submersible pump (ESP) system diagnostics, and scalable “Smart Field” management hubs designed to maximize reservoir exploitation efficiency. Concurrently, regional manufacturing innovations were highlighted by Iranian lighting fabricator Ram Noor, with representative Asmaa Naeem detailing their deployment of seamless, single-piece decorative lighting poles manufactured in star, triangular, and square cross-sections to replace traditional round conical street lighting across industrial zones and urban districts. Environmental remediation and oilfield waste management were represented by domestic Iraqi enterprise Al-Anfal, which specializes in hazardous and non-hazardous waste logistics across major southern producing assets. Company representative Hawraa Kadhim confirmed that Al-Anfal manages field services across Exploration Block 9, the Siba gas field, and the Artawi oil field, holding active environmental service contracts with Kuwait Energy and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC). Kadhim underscored that Al-Anfal operates as the sole licensed and environmentally certified entity in Basra authorized to transport, treat, and recycle industrial chemical waste in strict compliance with federal environmental conservation guidelines, highlighting domestic capabilities within Iraq’s extractive supply chain.
