US music legend Barry Manilow has cancelled another round of gigs hours before he was due to perform on stage. The Copacabana hitmaker, 83, issued a statement on his social media yesterday afternoon pulling out of that evening’s gig and tomorrow’s show at Westgate Las Vegas’ International Theater. Please rest.” “Sending Barry best wishes and tons of positive vibes I am half his age and would not be able to keep up his schedule,” another commented. “Take care of yourself and rest.” It’s not the first time this month that the Mandy singer has had to cancel tour performances. In early August Barry was forced to cancel his gig that was due to be held at the Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky. Barry was diagnosed with cancer last year, and even had an operation to remove part of his lung. The much-loved star revealed his stage one diagnosis to the world in November last year after he went to see the doctor for a pain in his hip. Sharing a picture at the time from his hospital bed as he recuperated, the star said: “As many of you know I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks. “Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK. “The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed. “It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early.” Music legend Barry’s career spans six decades with global hits including Could It Be Magic, Copacabana and Mandy.
