Barbados has secured nine nominations in the 2026 World Travel Awards, with the island in the running for honours spanning culture, cruise tourism, sports, romance and events. Among the nominations are Caribbean’s Leading Destination, Caribbean’s Leading Cultural Destination, Caribbean’s Leading Cruise Destination and Caribbean’s Leading Sports Tourism Destination. Barbados is also nominated for Caribbean’s Leading Family Travel Destination, Caribbean’s Leading Festival & Event Destination, Caribbean’s Leading Honeymoon Destination and Caribbean’s Leading Wedding Destination. Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) is separately nominated for Caribbean’s Leading Tourist Board. Public voting is now open and will close on August 28. The World Travel Awards recognise achievement across the global travel, tourism and hospitality sectors. (BT/PR)
