Joo’s departure was reported earlier by Reuters. The Charlotte, North Carolina-based company has been expanding its regional investment banking business, having hired nine senior executives across US markets, including in Austin, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, New York and San Francisco, as well as in Charlotte and West Palm Beach, Florida. The bank now has more than 200 bankers in 26 US cities. The bank has also invested in its technology business, hiring former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. partner Jason Rowe as the co-head of technology investment banking and Gary Kirkham, who was most recently a senior partner and head of technology at Centerview Partners, as the executive vice chairman of global corporate and investment banking. The bank also tapped Richard Hardegree, formerly of UBS Group AG, to join as the vice chairman of technology M&A investment banking.
