Baldur's Gate 3 Mod Unlocks All Heads In Character Creator

For Two Years, This Baldur's Gate 3 Fan Has Been Working On A Way To Unlock All Of The Faces For All Races Published Aug 14, 2026, 7:23 AM EDT Baldur's Gate 3 is a revolutionary RPG in many ways, but I will say something slightly controversial: the character creator could be better. Since every option is a preset, without the sliders to customise like in other character creators, it can be hard to make a truly unique Tav or Durge. Hell, you're almost guaranteed to find someone using the same face as you throughout the game. This isn't helped by the fact that all of the races have their own face presets. With no way to mix and match, it means that you'll always only have eight faces available to you. If you're a half-elf, for instance, you have access to your pool of faces, and you can't use the ones belonging to humans or dwarves. Now, a fan has finally gotten rid of this frustrating restriction. Nexus Mods user Bububull has released a major update to their mod that lets you access all of the heads the game has to offer. Now, you can use them with adjustments made to make them function on more body types, so you shouldn't run into trouble trying to use a gnome head on an elf, for instance. Baldur's Gate 3's Race-Locked Faces Are Gradually Being Removed By This Modder Heads unlocked by Bububull is still a work in progress, but the latest updates go a long way in making sure the new heads work with the variety of body types in game. This doesn't just mean the four types you have access to at any given time, but the different bodies for different races, as tieflings, dwarfs, halflings, etc all have their own proportions. The mod was released in May 2024, with a major update just this week that adds custom skeletons to the faces, reducing the chances of animation errors. The mod is still listed as a work in progress, so we can expect more updates to ensure that the heads work seamlessly. As of the latest update, you should get on fine with body type one, with body type two support coming later. Right now, the following races are included in the mod, allowing them to share heads: Elf / Drow Half-Elf Gnome Halfling Dwarf It's well worth giving this a try to see if the combination you're after is available yet. In the meantime, you can always pair it with custom modded faces, which give you more options to play around with. It remains to be seen if Larian ditches this method in Divinity. Baldur's Gate 3's offerings were at least more expansive than those of Larian's last game, Divinity: Original Sin 2, so we're heading in the right direction. It might just be that presets work better with Larian's engine.
