New judge Nigella, 66, joined the Channel 4 show earlier this year after Prue Leith packed it in. With production for the new series in full swing, the heatwaves aren’t the only thing getting the judges hot under the collar. There’s one thing in particular that the How To Be A Domestic Goddess author is said to find a bit much about her co-star. Paul’s entrance on set is something that Nigella thinks is ‘all rather cringe’, according to the Daily Mail. It says the Wirral-born baker, 60, commutes 120 miles from his home in Kent via helicopter – specifically, his £500,000 Robinson Raven – to film The Great British Bake Off. Paul captioned his picture ‘serious face’ – he was definitely serving that! (Picture: paul.hollywood) According to a source who spoke to the publication: ‘He loves that helicopter – it’s very much a status symbol for him, but frankly it also makes him come across as a right berk.’ The rest of the crew, including Nigella herself, apparently all arrive by car. The source said: ‘Put it this way: imagine if you’re super-rich Nigella and you see your co-star turning up in a helicopter, presumably to avoid the traffic and have a little bit of a show-off, you’re going to think it’s all a bit ghastly.’ It was also alleged, by the same insider, that Paul and Nigella ‘aren’t really getting on too well’. Paul is supposedly ‘put out’ by the addition of Nigella to the mix. They said he enjoyed having former Channel 4 star Prue there, adding: ‘He loves himself and revels in being the top dog. Mary and Prue were happy for him to stand out and make all the jokes.’ Audiences already know Nigella for her outrageous innuendos and hilarious one-liners, and the publication reports that she is already coming out with some cracking sentences. Alison Hammond said the duo had ‘unbelievable chemistry’ (Picture: nigellalawson/paul.hollywood) Some of her most iconic moments include making the declaration: ‘I love having an implement in each hand. It makes me feel busy.’ She also said a layer of peanut butter cheesecake should be like an ‘inner thigh wobble’. Before Prue, Paul judged bakes with Dame Mary Berry, who departed the show in 2016. After leaving, Mary told the Radio Times: ‘Paul and I had our differences about what was important to us but he is a brilliant bread-maker and I admired him a lot.’ Metro has reached out to the official representatives of Love Productions, Channel 4, Nigella Lawson and Paul Hollywood for comment.
