The improved software is said to be more reliable and functional than B&M‘s existing till systems, and will reduce “checkout friction”. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! It also intends to make the tills easier for employees to use and reduce any issues across the retailer’s various locations. Created in partnership with PMC, the new system follows a seven-year relationship between the two businesses. Now, the roll-out across stores has been completed after a successful pilot programme in January this year. A “zero-touch”, automated deployment was also introduced to minimise disruption to retail sites. PMC managed services director Jake Allmond, told Retail Gazette: “By building in operational agility and more seamless checkout experiences, B&M has improved customer and colleague experiences. “The solution will not only create friction-free and faster transactions at the tills, but will modernise B&M’s in-store technology landscape, allowing it to further enhance checkout capabilities in line with customer demands and evolving expectations.” Most read in Money B&M was founded in 1978 and holds 777 locations across the UK.
