Actor Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 has hit the ball out of the park at the box office, emerging as one of the biggest success stories of the year. Made on a reported budget of Rs 45 crore, the film has already delivered more than 200 per cent profit and continues to hold steady after completing its first week.The film, which clashed with Batwara 1947 ahead of the Independence Day weekend, opened with Rs 22 crore on Day 1 before witnessing a massive jump on Day 2, collecting Rs 33.75 crore. By the end of its first week, the sequel had earned Rs 113.50 crore India net, while its worldwide gross stood at Rs 161.67 crore.Awarapan 2 maintained its momentum into the second weekend and successfully cleared the second Monday test. It earned Rs 5.75 crore on Day 8, followed by Rs 8.25 crore on Day 9. The film collected Rs 8.75 crore on Day 10 before dipping to Rs 2.75 crore on Day 11.Interestingly, the film bounced back on its second Tuesday. Awarapan 2 collected Rs 4 crore on Day 12 amid discounted ticket prices, taking its cumulative India net collection to Rs 143 crore, according to Sacnilk. Awarapan 2 has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide, earning Rs 201.45 crore so far. Of this, the film has contributed Rs 170.15 crore from India gross and Rs 31.30 crore from overseas markets.However, the film now faces a tougher theatrical run as competition intensifies. While Batwara 1947 has struggled to make an impact, Hanuman Ansh has emerged as a stronger contender in its third week.
