As rainwater and hail began accumulating on the venue’s roof, guests stepped in to prevent the weight from becoming a bigger problem. In a video circulating on social media, several guests could be seen raising wooden chairs overhead and pressing them against a section of the roof covering that had visibly bowed under the weight.Dressed in suits and formal wear, they stood shoulder to shoulder beneath the affected area, using the chairs to push the covering upwards as it continued to pour. The scene unfolded over tables that had been carefully laid out for the reception, complete with plates, glasses and napkins. A large pocket of accumulated precipitation could be seen hanging above the guests, turning the wedding venue into an impromptu storm-control operation.Other videos from the venue showed the severity of the weather, with large chunks of hail scattered across the venue’s lawn as raining heavily. One guest described the scene as “both alarming and slightly comical," capturing the strange combination of concern and humour among those caught in the storm. The severe weather also kept emergency services busy, with New South Wales emergency services receiving more than 180 calls for assistance as thunderstorms swept through the region.- Ends
