Audi reveals its new entry-level EV with over 400 miles of range starts at about $45,000

The A2 e-tron is Audi’s most efficient vehicle ever, delivering over 400 miles of range. It’s also the brand’s affordable model, positioned as its new entry-level EV. Audi A2 e-tron prices and EV range The original Audi A2, which went on sale over 25 years ago, became known as the “world’s first four-door three-liter car” for its lightweight, ultra-efficient compact design. Audi is bringing back the A2 name, and this time, it’s even more efficient with an all-electric powertrain. The A2 e-tron has an energy consumption of just 12.8 kWh/ 100 km, according to WLTP, making it the most efficient series-production Audi of all time. After unveiling the new entry-level EV for the first time on Monday, CEO Gernot Döllner said the A2 e-tron is “more than a new model,” calling it the brand’s “renewal.” With a drag coefficient of just 0.24, the A2 e-tron (140 kW) has a WLTP range of up to 401 miles (646 km). It will be available with four power levels: 125 kW, 140 kW, 170 kW, and 240 kW, plus three battery sizes: 52, 61, or 84 kWh. Audi A2 e-tron (Source: Audi) Despite being an entry-level model, the A2 e-tron supports bidirectional charging, enabling it to power external electronics via Vehicle-to-Load (V2L). In Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, it can also be used as a backup home battery with a DC wall box via Vehicle-to-Home (V2H). With DC fast-charging speeds of up to 183 kW, the 84 kWh battery can charge from 10% to 80% in about 29 minutes. Audi A2 e-tron interior (Source: Audi) The 52 kWh LFP battery takes about 14 minutes at up to 100 kW, while the 61 kWh battery takes 25 minutes at up to 105 kW. Audi included several driver-assist features as standard, including Emergency brake assist, swerve assist, attention assist, adaptive cruise control (ACC), parking system plus, and a reversing camera. Audi A2 e-tron interior (Source: Audi) At just 4.32 meters (170″) long and 1.79 meters (70.5″) wide, with a wheelbase of 2.77 meters (109″), the A2 e-tron is about the size of the Kia EV3 and Volkswagen ID.3 Neo. The smart storage and premium features make the interior feel more spacious despite its compact size. Audi is the first luxury brand to offer the Fidlock fastening system, a patented magnetic smart storage solution, as standard. You can also opt for the optional panoramic glass roof with 1.6 square meters of glass across the roof. The 61 kWh variant starts at €41,900, while the A2 e-tron with 170 kW and the 84 kWh battery costs €48,900. The range-topping A2 e-tron 240 kW starts at €51,200. Audi is building the A2 e-tron at its Ingolstadt plant in Germany. The first customer deliveries are expected to begin in December 2026. Will Audi bring the entry-level EV to the US?
