Sign in to your ScreenRant account The Bat Family doesn’t have a lot of rules, but there’s one that stands above them all: they don’t kill. It’s something that’s gotten people like Jason Todd and Kassandra Kane kicked off the team at various times in DC history. For Jason, it was when he was still trying to figure things out after returning from the dead. For Kassandra, she thought killing Clayface was the only way to save Gotham City. This led Cassandra Cain (who was going by Orphan at the time) to remind Batwoman that the Bat Symbol means don’t kill. This was a big moment for Cassie because she was once a deadly assassin. Batgirl Cassie Cain is now one of the most important members of the Bat Family. In a lot of ways, she epitomizes everything that it means to be a member. However, there’s one thing that sets her apart from the others. All of her life lessons, in and outside of her life as a hero, are based on what she learned from being with the Bat Family. She lives by those rules, and especially the one about not killing. Sadly, the no murder rule will be put to the test soon. David Cain Is Worthy Of Cassandra's Wrath At the end of Batgirl No. 24, the last panel said, “Next month: David Cain?!” Fans of Cassie will remember David Cain is the fan favorite Batgirl's abusive father. David wanted an assassin and did everything he could to make sure his daughter was the best. He succeeded. Cassie easily ranks among DC's deadliest martial artists. Beyond the physical hardship that Cassie went through, she wasn’t given the tools to speak. For over a decade, she couldn’t talk. Thankfully, she eventually broke free from her father’s torment and became part of the Bat Family. Since then, she’s learned to talk, but never lost her ability to read people’s body language. During Batgirl: Forget Me Not, readers see that the hardship that Cassie went through was worse than anyone thought. She once had a friend whom she was later forced to fight. It was another game for David, who keeps getting worse whenever readers learn more about him. After reading all of that, it isn’t surprising that Cassie would want to kill her father. Unlike her mother (Lady Shiva), David doesn’t have any redeemable qualities. Now that Cassie has learned more about how awful her father is, the rage within her may burn brighter and hotter than ever. Nevertheless, she won’t kill David Cain. Batgirl Won't Kill Her Father, But That Doesn't Mean He Won't Die More so than most members of the Batfamily, Cassandra takes the no-killing rule very seriously. During Tate Brombal's run of Batgirl, Cassie has been tempted to break that Bat-Law in every storyline. Sometimes it was the people her mother teamed up with. Other times it was the group that was involved with her mother’s death. Despite all of that, she never broke the code. Her father may be the worst of them all, but that won’t matter. Batgirl won't kill her dad. Just because Batgirl won’t kill her father doesn’t mean he won’t die. David Cain isn’t a major player in the DC Comics universe, so his death won’t be a big deal in the grand scheme of things. What will be is Cassandra showing restraint. With that being said, just because Batgirl shows leniency doesn’t mean her friends and family will. Jaya Jayesh, Bronze Tiger, and Jade Tiger (Cassie's brother) aren’t beholden to the rules of Batman. If David does something unforgivable, one of them may take it upon themselves to eliminate the threat. How Batgirl reacts if that happens remains to be seen.
