Attacks on Hormuz shipping at wartime high, report says

Iranian missile and drone attacks on ships in and around the Strait of Hormuz were at their most intense in the two weeks to 11 October, the highest level since the US-Israeli strikes began seven months ago, the Financial Times reported. The next most intense period of attacks was during the first two weeks of March, when 13 ships were hit, the newspaper said, citing data from naval agency UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), which monitors marine security in the region. Shipowners are reconsider carrying cargoes in the region, the report said. Six vessels were attacked on Sunday alone, making it the deadliest day of attacks on shipping near the strait since the start of the conflict, FT calculated. It added that oil shipments through Hormuz fell to just 2.9 million barrels on 11 October, the lowest daily volume this month, according to Kpler.
