At least one dead and five injured after horror shooting at rave party at Swiss racecourse as cops hunt for gunman

ONE person has died and several others are injured after a gunman opened fire at a packed rave in Switzerland. Shots were fired into a large crowd during the event at a horse racing track in Aarau, north of Zurich, early Sunday morning. The incident has been “located at the horse racing track,” Vanessa Rumpold, media spokesperson for the Aargau Cantonal Police said. “Several shots were fired within a large group of people,” she added. Some 3,500 people attended the annual techno party between 3pm on Saturday and 2am on Sunday. Swiss newspaper Blick reported that the shots were fired before 3am local time on the sidelines of the Aarauer Rave. One witness reported “bursts of gunfire”. A video obtained by the outlet shows the sound of multiple shots being fired at 2.35am. Most read in The Sun Police have launched a large-scale operation with the Aargau Cantonal Disaster Response Unit (KKE) and an army Super Puma helicopter deployed to the scene. According to initial reports, one person has died and five others have been injured, some seriously. Police confirmed on X before 6am that there are “several victims”—it is unclear whether these are fatalities. “It is not yet clear what exactly happened”, Rumpold said. Cops have issued an appeal warning the public to stay away from the area.
