AT least 20 passengers have been injured after a train smashed into a delivery truck at a level crossing and flew off the tracks in Poland. The collision occurred near the town of Przysucha, around 60 miles southeast of Warsaw at about 11.20am. Two air ambulances were deployed to rush the injured to hospital. All rail traffic on the line has been suspended until further notice. A probe has been launched in the cause of the crash. Footage shows the terrifying near-fatal crash between a 300- person passenger train and the orange lorry in the northern port city of Gdansk. The large truck was caught between barriers on a level crossing after the driver reportedly ignored level- crossing signals to wait on the road. The driver attempts to move forwards and backwards to get off the tracks in time but fails. Pedestrians near the crossing can be seen rushing to safety before the terrifying collision. Upon impact, debris from the truck is immediately thrown across the rail line with huge clouds of smoke filling the air. The fire service said it was alerted to the collision at about 12.30pm on September 3. In June, three people were injured after two passenger trains crashed and caused a carriage to derail. Around 200 passengers were travelling on both trains when the horror impact occured. A travel operations spokesperson said the last carriage on the Intercity train had derailed along with “part of the Polregio train’s electric multiple unit.” He said the injured passengers suffered bruises and dislocations, adding: “These people were provided with first aid on site.” Comment now
