At least 16 killed & 28 injured after horror bus crash in popular tourist hotspot in Egypt

AT least 16 people have been killed and 28 injured after a bus reportedly overturned and crashed in an Egyptian holiday hotspot. The horror unfolded this morning in the north African nation’s South Sinai region, local authorities confirmed. The vehicle crashed on Dahab-Nuweibaa road, according to Egypt‘s health ⁠ministry. The coach is said to have overturned during the deadly smash, reports say. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! Local authorities said 20 ambulances were deployed to the scene. Paramedics provided first aid to those wounded and rushed several passengers to hospital. The 28 injured people are being treated in hospital, authorities said. Meanwhile, the 16 killed victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Egyptian Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said all measures are being taken “to provide the highest level of medical care to the injured, to provide all necessary supplies and medicines, and to maintain continuous coordination with the relevant authorities in South Sinai Governorate”. A spokesperson for the ministry said: “As soon as the report was received, the central operations room was activated, and 20 ambulances were directed to the scene of the accident to evacuate the injured and provide first aid.” Most read in The Sun All medical teams are operating “at full capacity to handle the incident with utmost efficiency and speed”, they added. It is currently unclear why the bus crashed. The southern Sinai peninsula is a popular tourist spot – boasting resort cities like Sharm El-Sheik as well as diving activities in the Red Sea. Last month, at least 18 people, many of them children, were killed after two pick up trucks collided in Egypt. Another 30 were injured after the trucks carrying workers crashed and flipped over in the Al-Dawawis area of Ismailia. A major emergency response was launched with 30 ambulances and police cars deployed to the scene. The youngest victim was 10 years old. Comment now
