GLASTONBURY tickets have now reached the highest-ever price in the event’s history. Sales for next year’s festival are set to open in October, with fans shocked by the hike. The UK’s most expensive festival is set to get even pricier Credit: Redferns After taking a fallow year this summer, weekend tickets are now priced at a staggering £408 – including a £5 booking fee – resulting in an almost £30 increase from 2025. Glastonbury has already been awarded the title of the UK’s most expensive music festival for some time now, but the 2027 season will be the first time tickets have surpassed the £400 barrier. In response to ticket costs, some fans on Facebook commented: “no thanks”, “it’s a joke” , “disgusting” and “all that money to see a dot on a stage.” Another past festival-goer wrote: “£1000 for two old dreamers! You make me cry…” While for others, the event – which features more than 100 stages and over 3,000 performances – is worth the cost. As one potential-attendee said: “It’s worth every penny for what you get.” Another commented: “If anyone’s balking at the price, I’m just finishing Reading Festival. Compared to this event (at £325 a ticket), Glastonbury is still a bargain..!” Most read in Showbiz The festival initially took place in 1970, with tickets costing just £1 (equivalent to around £13.80 in 2026). In 2003, tickets reached the £100 mark for the first time, with headline acts including R.E.M, Radiohead and Moby. However, prices appear to have changed the most dramatically within the past four years, costing £282 in 2022, £335 in 2023/24 and £378.50 in 2025. Glastonbury is not the only festival to increase costs, with ticket inflation impacting other major UK festivals. For this summer’s Leeds and Reading Festival, weekend passes were priced at £325, while Parklife’s two-day June event cost around £139.50. This is the result of “enormous” operational costs and financial challenges facing festivals in recent years, according to Emily Eavis, Glastonbury’s organiser. Comment now
