Since 2007, Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise has dominated the gaming sphere, and it shows no signs of stopping almost two decades later. Beginning with the aptly named Assassin's Creed, and more recently welcoming its fourteenth main installment, Assassin's Creed Shadows, the stealth adventure series boasts a dedicated fanbase, with appreciation for its nods to diverse characters and backgrounds, journeys to historical periods, and exhilarating gameplay. That being said, some entries have been received better than others, but that has not stopped Ubisoft, as the next reported mainline installment, Assassin's Creed Hexe, is currently in development. Not only that, but the studio recently released a highly requested remake for one of the highest rated entries in the series, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. However, it is not unusual for Ubisoft to be working on multiple entries at once, and, according to leaks, Assassin's Creed Destiny could have been one of the next big releases. Previously, Ubisoft had been planning on taking players to Ancient China with the launch of the mobile-exclusive title Assassin’s Creed Jade. First announced back in 2022, it would highlight the Qin Dynasty period, but after a few beta periods, the project went silent with many believing that it was canceled. However, it was back in March this year that Ubisoft revealed that Jade was still in development, but it would not be the only installment that would take players to China. According to MP1ST, Ubisoft and Tencent were also working on another Assassin's Creed entry set in China, but it was scrapped before development could kick off in earnest. The project was reportedly led by TiMi Studio Group, a Tencent subsidiary also working on Assassin's Creed Jade, but it appears as though it was scrapped early on in development with the last update taking place back in February 2025. Rumored to have been called Assassin's Creed Destiny, it would have been set in the Qin Dynasty period, much like Jade, but where Jade took place in 215 BCE, Destiny would have been later in 206 BCE. More exciting is the fact that MP1ST managed to secure footage of a mission that could have taken place in Assassin's Creed Destiny, showing a female assassin (a male assassin can be seen later on, hinting at another choice at the start of the game) tasked with reaching a mysterious artifact housed inside a sacred palace guarded by Xiang Yu and his troops. We also get to see a potential boss fight with a warlord, as well as the return of Hidden Blade stealth kills, the legendary leap of faith, and parkour elements. As for new features, we can see an interesting UI which includes a yin-yang emblem, ink-brush-style ability icons, and the obvious health bar. What is interesting is the weapon that our assassin wields, with it taking on the appearance of a spinning umbrella. However, it was only a month after this footage was recorded that TiMi Studio Group announced that it would be restructuring, and, as such, Assassin's Creed Destiny was scrapped. It is unfortunate news, especially considering the brand-new features that would have been included, but here is hoping that Ubisoft may return to it in the future following the launch of Assassin's Creed Hexe.
