Whatever your own thoughts, it has been a lot of fun living that pirate's life once again, and by all accounts it has been an impressive commercial success for Ubisoft. A big part of the game's appeal is the narrative, with protagonist Edward Kenway serving as the perfect foil for its delivery to players. Though it strays from the usual formula in the franchise, that unique approach is what made it such a breath of fresh air, and now a new release is set to debut soon that continues that story in earnest. Over on Amazon, you should be able to find the pre-order page for Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple Volume 4, a new paperback release that directly continues the story of Black Flag and serves as the conclusion of the four-part novelised series. It sounds like a very memorable tale as well, with the publisher sharing the following insight into what fans can expect: "Edward Kenway, the infamous pirate and Assassin, must complete one last swashbuckling mission! Shifting allegiances, new allies, deadly battles with the scheming Templars, and all-new enemies are going to put all of Kenway’s skills to the test in Assassin’s Creed: Forgotten Temple! "Exploring Kenway’s memories is having a strange effect on Kim. He’s suddenly capable of things he could never do before, like fearlessly leaping off a roof and landing on both feet, or fighting three men all alone and coming out unscathed. Could his ancestor’s memories be changing Kim for the worse?" That would suggest that the bleeding effect is going to play a big role once again, a facet of the Animus that has really taken a backseat since the death of Desmond. What Kenway will be up to in the story (beyond continuing what we have read in the first three parts) is less clear, but it will certainly be nice to hear what he got up to after the game. The product isn't out just yet, but it is available for pre-order, with a full release expected on September 24, 2026.
