A 20-year-old woman from Assam was found dead near a railway track in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district after she went missing while travelling by train to Assam, with police examining CCTV footage, call records and other evidence to determine what happened to her.Himashree Boro, a resident of Kamrup district in Assam and a student of B Borooah College in Guwahati, had travelled to Visakhapatnam for a dance competition. She boarded the Dibrugarh-bound Vivek Express from Visakhapatnam railway station on the night of October 5 to return to Guwahati.She was travelling in the S2 coach and last spoke to her family on October 6. When the family subsequently lost contact with her, they approached the Government Railway Police in Guwahati and contacted the railway helpline 139.HIMASHREE'S BELONGINGS FOUND IN TRAINRailway personnel later traced Himashree’s belongings. Two bags and identification documents belonging to her were reportedly found in the S2 coach, but Himashree herself was missing. Her body was subsequently recovered from an area near the railway track in the Malayapuram/Penubarthi area of Ponduru mandal in Srikakulam district.Srikakulam SP Maheshwar Reddy visited the spot and reviewed the investigation.CCTV, VIDEO BEING EXAMINED Investigators are examining CCTV footage from Visakhapatnam railway station, where Himashree was seen boarding the train. The footage reportedly shows an unidentified man approaching her and appearing to speak to her shortly before she boarded the train.Her family has also alleged that Himashree had expressed fear during the journey and said some young men had behaved inappropriately with her.A video reportedly sent by Himashree during the journey, in which several men are allegedly seen around her, is also being examined by investigators.However, police have not confirmed any criminal involvement so far.POLICE PROBE HOW SHE LEFT THE TRAINOfficials are currently examining whether Himashree may have accidentally fallen from the moving train. Investigators are looking into how she could have exited the train and whether she fell accidentally or was pushed.They are also examining the movements of passengers who were travelling in or around the S2 coach.The Railway Police and Srikakulam district police are examining CCTV footage, the video, call records and Himashree’s travel details to establish the sequence of events.Police are yet to establish the exact circumstances and cause of Himashree Boro’s death.
