The video also captured emotional moments as several beneficiaries smiled, hugged Mansuri and even touched his feet to express their gratitude for the assistance. The relief effort comes as Assam continues to recover from the recent floods. On Monday, the state government released the first tranche of interim relief of around Rs 75,000 per household for flood-affected families. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed the assistance from Dibrugarh during his visit to some of the worst-hit districts. According to officials, the flood toll in Upper Assam has risen to 85. Although the number of affected people has declined to around 1.36 lakh, Sivasagar remains the worst-hit district, followed by Charaideo and Jorhat. The state government is currently operating 54 relief camps and distribution centres across five districts, sheltering over 13,700 people.- EndsPublished On: Aug 4, 2026 18:42 IST
