In the other corner, Xbox announced a new program that allows people to assign a digital license to their account for their physical games, meaning people who own the disc get the best of both worlds. Well, it seems Microsoft's strategy is already garnering supporters, as Ubisoft has seemingly agreed to allow its games in the disc-to-digital initiative. Ubisoft games are reportedly working with Xbox's disc-to-digital service It's excellent news if true As spotted by Windows Central, reports are coming in that the Xbox disc-to-digital plan now works nicely with Ubisoft titles. It seems that Microsoft hasn't added every single Xbox game under the sun to the service, likely due to requiring developer and/or publisher permission before it can dole out digital licenses for free. However, it seems that Ubisoft has agreed to join in with the fun. According to reports, the change is only active in the Xbox Insider branch in the Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead builds, but it should roll out to everyone else once Microsoft has properly tested the feature. Regardless, this is exciting news for preservationists, as there's a good chance we'll see more and more publishers give Microsoft the green light to include digital licenses with their physical games. Here's hoping that will happen.
