The 28-year-old scored a decent 21 goals in his debut campaign, one more than Alvarez, in which the Gunners won the Premier League and reached the Champions League final. However, he never managed to nail down a consistent starting spot, with this being reinforced last night, as Kai Havertz started and scored up top for Mikel Arteta‘s side. The report suggests that Arsenal are willing to offer a huge £68.5million plus Gyokeres to secure Alvarez. And despite the Argentinian seeming to favour Spanish giants Barcelona throughout the summer, his head has reportedly turned towards the Emirates. Financial details would not be a problem for either party, with Alvarez expected to double his wages if a deal is agreed. Earlier in the summer it was widely reported that the former Man City man had no intention of returning to England. And despite winning two Premier Leagues, an FA Cup and a Champions League while at City, the 26-year-old might fancy a return, but this time south of Manchester.
