ARSENAL have been dealt a major transfer blow by Real Madrid reportedly offering Vinicius Junior more money and a new contract. The Gunners are chasing a major deal to land the Brazilian winger, who is into the final year of his current contract at the Bernabeu. However, it remains unclear if it matches the £25million annual packet – including base salary, add-ons and a renewal bonus – Vinicius was after earlier in the year. The Brazil international, 26, had his representatives meet with Real Madrid’s hierachy on Wednesday – including general director Jose Angel Sanchez and chief scout Juni Calafat. Previously, the two parties’ financial expectations have been way off – especially over the renewal bonus. But it is claimed Wednesday’s talks progressed and Real have upped their offer. Now, Vinicius must decide whether he will sign the contract extension, leave for Arsenal or run his current deal out next summer. Los Blancos, though, are desperate to avoid the latter option as that would see the superstar walk away for nothing in 2027.
