And according to the Independent, Arsenal believe that being able to offer Gyokeres and Jesus could hand them an edge. Simeone, 56, is determined to bolster his forward line, irrespective of whether Alvarez stays. Atletico chiefs want £128million for their Argentine forward, a sum they do not believe Barca can pay. Even if Barcelona do stump up the cash, however, Atleti would have very little time to sign a replacement. In this instance they could turn to Chelsea misfit Nicolas Jackson, although Aston Villa are currently leading the race. Alvarez has four years remaining on his Atletico contract but has been demanding an exit.
