Arsenal COMPLETE £51m transfer for Ezri Konsa as England star, 28, signs four-year deal

ARSENAL have completed the signing of Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa. The 28-year-old joins the Gunners in a deal worth £51million plus £4m in potential add-ons. The centre-back’s first appearance for the club will likely be against Aston Villa – his former club – on August 31. Konsa made 286 appearances for Villa during his seven-year spell with the club. He could now jump straight into the Arsenal starting line-up to cover the injured William Saliba in the heart of defence. Saliba has been ruled out for several months due to a back injury, prompting Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal hierarchy to enter the market for a Prem-proven defender. While they were briefly linked with Bayer Leverkusen and England star Jarell Quansah last week, it’s believed that Konsa was always the No1 target. Jurrien Timber is currently working his way back from a groin injury, while Ben White dealt with a hamstring issue and a knee injury last term. The Gunners have already signed Illan Meslier, Christos Tzolis and Bruno Guimaraes this summer, while Piero Hincapie’s loan move was made permanent.
