Sign in to your TheGamer account Although its player base is still only a fraction of what it used to be during the peak of the game's popularity, Arc Raiders is still going strong with several major updates and new projects on the horizon. On top of these additions, even Embark's older PvP project The Finals is getting a massive overhaul soon, but both these content additions pale in comparison to the studio's newest adaptations. Coming hot off the heels of the absolutely massive Frozen Trail event announcement, both the hit extraction shooter Arc Raiders and Embark's The Finals are already gearing up for their next major project in the form of official film or television show adaptations, as announced by Variety. We're Getting Numerous Filmed Embark Projects Although the announcement didn't reveal too many details about what the actual projects would entail, what we do know is several TV and film projects are coming in partnership with Embark Studios and Chernin Entertainment. Having outbid several other production companies for the rights, Chernin Entertainment is now leading the creation of the proposed projects that will adapt several stories from both games. The announcement also came with an official statement from Embark Studios founder Patric Soderlund, who says, "Nexon’s agreement with Chernin Entertainment is the next big step in growing ‘ARC Raiders’ and ‘The Finals’ into deeply integrated transmedia experiences." Chernin's president of film seemed equally excited about the deal as well, noting that "ARC Raiders’ and ‘The Finals’ are exactly the kind of opportunities we’ve been building towards at Chernin Entertainment," while also noting that both settings offer "countless stories to tell" in their "visually stunning, atmospheric worlds." Both Franchises Have Plenty Of Storytelling Potential Even though details are still scarce about which game will be getting a TV show, movie, or both, let alone if they'll be animated or live-action just yet, we can take solace in knowing that Chernin Entertainment has plenty of experience with movies like the Planet of the Apes series and the latest adaptation of The Backrooms under its belt. With the setting of Arc Raiders alone being one of the most standout parts of the experience, an adaptation focusing on its characters and world-building would be excellent to see regardless of which form the new film adaptations take, especially if it chooses to focus on a prequel story leading up to the events of the game.
