Apple just announced a new 14-inch MacBook Pro that utilizes the company’s house-made 12-core M6 chip, which first debuted in the Mac mini this summer. As you might’ve expected, the updated MacBook Pro looks exactly the same as its predecessor; the focus here is very much on performance. The M6 MacBook Pro also comes with the option for a nano-texture display for the first time. With the inclusion of the M6 chip, Apple is promising up to 30% faster graphics and 25% faster AI workloads over the M5 Max Macbook Pro. The chip has a smaller die, which essentially equates to less heat production and faster performance. Apple claims the M6 chip allows for the laptop to achieve a whopping 24 hours of battery life. The new MacBook Pro also comes equipped with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. © Apple Like the M5 Max model, the M6 MacBook Pro starts with 16GB of unified memory, with up to 32GB configurations available. It utilizes the same six-speaker sound system and has three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, an SDXC card slot, a headphone jack, and MagSafe 3 with fast-charge capability. While the M6 chip will be a notable upgrade for power users, the lack of any other real redesign here won’t make it a super interesting upgrade for the average consumer—especially not when the MacBook Neo is available for thousands of dollars less. The M6 MacBook Pro is available for pre-order starting Oct. 28 starting at $1,999, with availability on Nov. 6. You get a choice of two colors: space black or silver.
