Now reports are surfacing that Apple is, indeed, scaling back hardware shipments.According to MacRumors, Apple analyst Ming-chi Kuo revealed this information via X post published today, stating that this cutback can also be attributed to the memory crisis. “My industry checks suggest that Apple has indeed scale back its hardware shipment plans this year due to memory shortages,” Kuo’s post reads. “However, Apple plans its processor production at TSMC [Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company] at least three months in advance, based on the amount of memory expected to be available, rather than having TSMC build large amounts of WIP [work-in-process] ahead of time.“This does not mean TSMC never builds WIP in advance and holds it inventory. But if the bottleneck is not at TSMC, building ahead provides little benefit, so Apple would have little reason to pay TSMC extra for it.”This might mean that the iPhone 18 series— as well as the Foldable iPhone Ultra — might have its release impacted in September, The Mac Observer states. How this might affect the phones’ potential price — which has previously been rumored to be getting a massive hike — remains unknown.Apple has not released a statement on this matter at this time.
